The 230 photographs, taken by McMullan when stationed in the Philippine Islands, record the surrender of Japanese forces, war damage, and scenes in Manila and elsewhere in the islands. A small number of photomechanical prints, slides, clippings, leaflets, and picture postcards are also included.

Theodore Newton McMullan (b. 1908) received an M.S. in engineering from Louisiana State University in 1932.
